To fully understand peoples living in the Americas with African ancestry, it is important to understand who African Americans are and how they became. 


To address health disparities impacting African Americans, it is critical to understand and deeply appreciate the relationship between tobacco and descendants of enslaved people; more importantly, we must all understand the tobacco industry in today’s context of predatory marketing, disinvested communities and persistent racism.
